View Full Version : If a pump fails, will the electric current stop flowing through it?

I'd like to wire an LED to turn on if my pump fails, or even better, have an auxiliary pump turn on if the primary pump fails. But of course, this does no good if the electricity is still flowing through the failed pump.

Thank you!

Depends on why it fails. If it's an electrical problem then the current will stop. If something mechanical breaks then it might keep running. Maybe you could hook up an LED to a flow-meter or something.
