im getting an acorp 6A815EPD just because i have a p3 1gig from a dell, my questions are:
1. do i really really need ecc memory?will i suffice with regular sdram?
2. if i get a 933mhz or slower p3, will it run at the slower speed or will it not run at all? how will it do that if the multi is lock?
3. dont flame me for getting that mobo, cheapest i can afford, really, and i already have a p3, so no amd for me :(
thanx

i did searches and couldnt fine my answers

1. The question wouldn't be whether or not you need ECC, but registered (or buffered) DRAM.

ECC just has error correction capabilities in it. Most of it is also registered because it's used in servers, but it doesn't need to be.

I looked up your board using google and found this review (http://www.digit-life.com/articles/i815epacorp6a815epd/) of it. Looks like you don't need registered DRAM so you'll be fine with normal PC133.

2. Most SMP processors will run at the speed of the slowest processor, but I'm not sure about yours. Somebody here who has owned or owns P3s in dual configurations would be a better help than I can. For now I'll say that it will run, but at the speed of the slower processor.

3. Flame? Never! :D

Going by that review, you don't need registered RAM. Regular stuff is fine.
