cutting a symbol out

how would i go about cutting a symbol out in the side of my case, without cracking it and having a clean cut?

this is what im looking at, but bigger

well that symbol is immpossible. the innerblue parts arent held to the outerpart with anything. what you could do is cut those shapes out of your case and then glue the dangling part to a piece of plexiglass orsomething like that.:beer:

assuming you want the white part to be see through, you could always do the whole thing in Plexi and put blue plastic behing the parts you want to be blue

ok thanks, i guess i will just black out a window and cut out the shape so that it shines through, thats probably just the best alternative anyway.

its far from impossible.

you can do without the outer ring. then just cut out the blue areas and that'll look way phat.

here's my box that took a lot of complicated cutting but turned out being awesome.

if you follow the first link you'll see my original outline for the design, and you'll notice the imperial symbol had the outer ring on it, but if you look at the finised product you see that the outer ring was dropped and it still looks good.

bascially, losing the outer ring won't detract from its looks, and if you do it right it should be a very tight mod.

or you can always email Charlie @ ltc@liquidthundercreations.com and he'll cut the whole design for you with his waterjet, and he doesn't charge that much either.

Charlie did my case and it has pieces that are not attached. I just used double sided tape to attach them to the window.

Yes I know the biohazard is upside down in the pic :) I have recently turned it over, and replaced that fan with a nice UV sensitive one. I have also moved some of those wires. ;)

You could also use a Dremel. I am working on a Dragon pic on my spare side panel.

I cut my case with a dremel, a multipurpose bit, ruler, and clamps... I clamped down the ruler next to the design on top of the sidepanel of my case. then I cut it with the multipurpose bit, following the ruler (acts as a guide) so all the cuts were fairly straight.... anyway just a thought, I did mine this way.... here's my pics:

I sent him the panel and the design, and he cut it out using, I think, a Waterjet.
