I have a 1.8a on an ABIT bd7II w/ Samsung pc2100 (ddr266). I bought pc2100 because the board stated it only supported pc1600 and pc2100. My question is: How is it possible other people are using pc2700 and pc3200 for this board?

I understand that O/Cing fsb according to the cpu/mem dividers speed up the ram to speeds of pc2700 and pc3200. i.e.

133fsb using a 3:4 divider yields
- 133/3 * 4 * 2 = 354 (ddr354)
or
150fsb using 1:1 divider yields
- 150/1 * 1 * 2 = 300 (ddr300)

I also understand that mem & cpus can run at higher speeds just untested for, thus people can O/C.

thanks in advance.

easy, i got samsung pc2700 memory in it, 1.8a running at 150mhz:

150fsb using 3:4 divider (low dram hw strap) yields
- 150/3 * 4 * 2 = 400 (ddr400) = pc3200

cpu runs fine up to 155, but memory won't handle 206mhz. :(
dont feel like upgrading the memory just for a sake of a few mhz.

nice, i'm going to upgrade my ddr now. thanks a bunch.

where's the cheapest place to buy corsair pc3200c2 RAM? 256mb or 512mb. That's what i decided on getting with all the positive criticism about it.
