View Full Version : FireWire hub?
is there such as a firewire hub?
i am gonna have a lan party @ christmas but my 10mb hub sucks so where can i find the firewire hub?
Yep there are firewire hub's.
But you know that everybody then needs a firewire port?
Actually you can also build it without a hub. If Everypc has 2 Firewire ports, then you can connect it like in old BNC times, one long line. But i recommend a hub.
If not everybody has firewire, then a 100mbit network is a good alternative. (Used it myself 1000times on lanparty's)
For a firewire network you also need a TCP/IP via Firewire protocoll. In WinXP it's already included. For Win9X you have to install it seperatly.

my network card doesnt support 100mb, n so is my hub, 10mb which sucks!
i have a firewire port that came with the audigy all i need now is a hub n some "firewire"
thanks for advice
I've got the Audigy, too, and teste Firewire Network with a freidn of mine. Nice speed. Even compared to the 100mbit, this is so fast. It's bad that the hdd'S can't handle that much :(.
10mbit really s****. I've run BNC networks, don't want to remember....
Now 100mbit network, really nice. And with some freinds i can use firewire, really great, you are going to love it!
Have fun
