For christmas, im gonna get a new case (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduct.asp?description=11-132-001&depa=1) , and I will have 2 80mm tornado intakes up front, 2 80mm tornado exhausts in the back, a side exhaust (generic fan), and a AX7 with a tornado on it for the processor cooling. Yes, I know, its gonna sound like a jet engine. One question though, Im still trying to decide, Should I take some sort of duct from the side panel fan to right above the processor? If so, should I just use pvc or something? Thanks

Tornados are very directional... I don't know if they'd make the best intakes. This setup won't only be loud, but it will actually hurt your ears.

With that kind of airflow inside your case, you won't get much help from a duct. I would put an exhaust at the top instead of in the back, though.

Ok, I think I'll scrap the duct idea. But should I just put a blowhole, or should I go for the fan, at the top of the case??

don't those fans cost about 20 a peice. if you need that much air haven't you crossed the gap into water cooling territory?

4 tornadoes is 84CFMx4=336CFM. the amount of noise those fans are gonna make is one thing than to have the turbulence in your case from all that air. not to mention that your looking at about $80 in fans. wouldn't it be better to get a water cooling kit for $100 that is FAR FAR FAR quieter and would cool much better than air

I found quite a deal on Tornados that I cannot discuss any further.

fell off the truck eh

in any case i would go with water cooling just for my ears and the fact that if i need that much air than i should prolly be looking at a water setup

No.. its a perfectly legal deal.

The thickest stuff should drop about 10-20 dB

Maybe ill get some dynamat (for car stereos), and put it on the side panels.. i just dont wanna do water cooling , too much maintenance and stuff.

Yeah, that Dynamat's about half the thickness though, :D:D

actually with a closed watercooling system there is about as much maintainance as air

I would not reccomend that case. He couldn't use the top 2 CD bays because it interfered with the motherboard. Just wanted to let you know.

If you're goin to have 2 intakes and 3 exhausts, wouldn't that create negative air pressure inside your case and start sucking in air from all the little openings in your case and in turn pile up dust inside your case ?

I've now decided Ill have 2 intakes, 2 exhausts. Maybe a blow hole, without a fan though.

I've worked with dynamat before. Installing it in your case is a bad idea. One of it's biggest secrets in car stereo is a lead (obviously bonded) layer. Do you think dynamat allows heat to pass by? Think of an echo in heat terms. Your wasting the whole point of an aluminum case with dynamat. BESIDES the FANS make noise though the FAN holes. And I don't recommend watercooling. Although it's a great alternative, far superior and very quiet, it requires a GREAT deal of patience, know how and moding. Personally I'd rather mount everything and make it look neat not just slap a bunch of pumps and hoses into a case. Your idea should be fine. Try the system out first though. Something DEADLY loud to some of the people on these cooling forums (water/xtreme) cooling could be like a mere whisper to you. I say try your way and change it later if you don't like it.

man if your going to be near this computer for 5 or more hours a day you will really damage your hearing, no questions asked.

I think that's going abit over the line; 4 Tornados is just asking for permenant damage within years! I think that you should go with 4 Sunon 50's to fill up those spaces while cutting off the grills and using NONE for the intakes and grills for the back if you insist. Those stock grill restrict alot of air and you can make the full use of your fan by cutting them off. If you do, you'd probably get the same performance as running 4 Tornados without cutting them. Now, if you can, get a hole saw or something on a powerful drill and you can place 120mm at the very bottom of the case and probably 2 blowholes at the top. You must plan so the 120mm is 1-2cm away from the PSU and doesn't actually come in contact with it when you put a blowhole or plan to. The 120mm will help alot more than the 80mm.

You can then add a window or so. Very nice case for 33 bucks + 15 shipping. I personally don't like ducts because it seems to screw up your airflow and adding 120mm's to the bottom REALLY help. I have 1 so far and 1 blowhole at the top, really helps. My case temps are always 1-2 degrees above ambient.

SOME Noise. Most of it is made inside the case.

i can understand what you mean by loud case cooling, but i do think that there are people that dont notice the noise as much as others do. for example, i use a 50cfm delta cpu fan but its noise does not bother me as much as it does my family members or freinds...it all depends on the person i guess.

but as for that case's noise, i have heard of people that have built mufflers for the fan holes to quiet the computer down...and you could always use a fanbus to vary the fan noise...

im actually planning on building my own plastic computer case. i already have the materials and i am in the process of building it...it will have....an ungodly number of fans...and...they will all be extreme delta models! 4 200 CFM 120's for intake...4 on the top, 4 on the side panel...2 power supplyies and their fans...plus another 6 80mm deltas in the rear...so that makes what...20 total system fans? now i call THAT extreme. im wondering if i will have to secure the case down to the desk because it will have wheels and might start rolling away from me...

actually, you can go to http://www.excess-solutions.com/ ...they sell many things for a lot cheaper than you would think...as long as you know the model number for the fans. many of their fans cost 4-5 dollars...these are the same exact fans that overclocking stores sell....that tells you how much money they make on their fans! $20 is pure rip off....but it doesnt compare to best buy, their ps2 male/female adapter cost $10 but only costs them 86 cents to buy...

so my case wont cost too much in fans...but the plastic i bought cost me $150 alone! im going to have to build my own HUGE fanbus to handle all of those fans...18 deltas at the same time? i think the people next door could hear that ;)
