Any of you guys know how I can get roger wilco to work in battlefeild 1942? I haven't used a mic in games yet and I can't quiet get this to work. I play bf1942 through the Gamespy arcade browser and I have roger wilco all set up. All the tests for roger wilco are good but I'm not sure what to do next. Do I join any channel in roger wilco and then start a bf1942 game?

Thanks

Unless RW has changed since I used it, someone has to give you a channel address. Once you get that, just type it in and join the channel, and use your chat keys (the ones you set up when you installed it) to talk. Get thier feedback on how your voice sounds so you know whether or not to adjust volume up or down.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Eyelessface.....channels come up when I click on 'join' under the channel tab...most have passwords, some don't.

I guess what I'm starting to understand here is that I can only talk to people who are using rw and are on the same channel, so that would mean everyone in a game would need to be on the same rw channel to comunicate...... And others, in the game without rw, wouldn't be able hear us. True? I guess it makes sence.:)

True. If you've ever used IRC before, it basically the same thing. You connect to the chat server, but need to join a channel inorder to chat to anyone. But if you want to chat to people playing on the game server your playing, you all need to be in the same chat room as well.

I kinda wish game makers would incorporate some means of real voice chat into thier games. There was a internet only game that came out a number of years ago which I beta tested for, but it was never released. The game wasn't really that good, but it was a squad based game where you would chat with your team mates. Pretty radical at its time since everyone was still on 36.6k modems and 56K was new.
