I've read most tweak guides and they suggest Regcleaner (http://www.regcleaner.com/) because it's friendly and safe to use. I use it myself as well and I think it's great. It not only cleans your registry but it can control whatever is starting up and remove things from Add/Remove etc.

Ouch, just noticed your 1.4 Tbird died, how'd that happen? Where'd you buy your 1600+ and did you get a specific stepping? ;)

Thanks for the sympathy Yodums. I am still not sure what happend to my T-bird.
My system basically would boot up but not into windows. Since it booted up I ignored the fact that it was the Chip until I started swapping parts w/ my other rig to see what the prob was. Then I narrowed it down to the chip, it would not boot into windows on the other rig as well. I took the chip in to show Mike at Stargate microsystems on Percy St. and he fiddled w/ it. He discovered that it would boot into windows if you turned off the L1 cache. But that of course made the chip really slow. So i figured I must have damaged the chip, most likely w/ thermal paste on the bridges?!?

Anyhow, Mike got me a Retail 1600xp for $125.00....and sadly I did not inquire about the stepping....It did not cross my mind....next time my head is in the case I will write down the stepping.
BTW...how did you O/C your chip? I am wary to throw another $120.00 away:confused: I would rather just O/C thru the FSB than mess w/ the bridges on a XP chip.

regcleaner is sure safe to use but i found out that this is because it will usually only clean the entries of removed files or something small like this. dont expect it to make a good clean of your registry.
however, regcleaner is a very user friendly registry editor, it might be a lot more helpful on managing the programs entries etc. just the automatic cleaning is a bit odd.
