I'm going to do a nice, and hopefully benefitial, mod on my computer in the very near future. Instead of watercooling (saving the money for building another computer in a little less than a year) I'm going to put in switches for all of the case fans so I can turn them off (externally) when the case temp is well below the necessary.

So, on a freezing day, the case temp is 21C, all of those case fans aren't necessary. So, to cut the noise out, I will be able to manually and externally turn off fans.

What do you think? I'm looking forward to doing it... ;)

I am going to do the same thing after christmas, when I get my new case. I will mount the switches on a drive bay cover, and stagger them. The top row of switches will be one color (lighted rocker switch), for the fans, and the bottom row will be another color, for my cathodes and LED's.

(It'll be really nice for me with my 4 80mm Tornados, plus the Tornado on my CPU.. mwahhahahah)

Also, you know someone will suggest a Rheobus, or even a cheapo rheostat thing, but, thats a waste of $$ IMO.

How about adding switches and rheostats: That way, you can turn your fans up or down, depending on need. And you can even turn them off.

www.pcmods.com Has a rheobus thing, and I think they have different colored knobs for it, and different colored Leds maybe, and you can have the fans on/off/variable.

Anyways, I just have to find the amps of the fans (I think a little less than 1/4) to get the switches and then, as you said, put it right into one of the bays to view as so.

Anyways, I thought this was a good idea! That way I can externally regulate which fans are on...and making noise ;).
