View Full Version : Team 32 email newsletter?
Back when I first got into webdesign, I remember reading a lot about email newsletters and how good of a promotional tool they are for your website. They often get those who would never think about returning to a site or as in this case, some kind of activity, to return.
I think a Team 32 newsletter would be an excellent tool for the team and folding in general. Here are my ideas for content..
List the Top 25 (or so) producers for that week.
List milestones attained that week.
News from the team like "So & So member got a yattamonster online *specs* *pics*"
Link to any news that has come out of stanford that week.
Some kind of 'folding tip' that could help everybody out.
Links to good threads in the folding forum.
Okay I don't have too many ideas but these are a start, I'm sure there could be a whole load of other things to put in it.
I see the main advantages of this as keeping folders motivated and adding boxen. And keeping folders who join for contests folding after it's done (it would be mandatory to sign up if you enter the contest).
Thoughts?

Great idea! I have made the page, have the list management software installed and it is up and ready to go! If someone wants to volunteer to run it, I will gladly show you how. The address is: http://www.netbetty.com/team32/

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Although I have a feeling the top 25 would feature mostly the same people over the weeks?
It would be good if there was a way for lesser folders to get their names up there, i dont mean the occasional folders, but people who fold, but dont have the same huge amounts of hardware some of the top ppl have.
It could jus be like a monthly thing though, to make sure there is enough news for it, if its too regular it might run outta news? or maybe fortnightly, depends on the amounts of news that come in for it...
Id sign up though :)

Well, the signup page is up http://www.netbetty.com/team32/ If we decide to do this great, we can use my server to administer everything from. If it is a no-go, I will just delet all the email addresses collected from sign ups.
Well it hasn't gotten much of a response. Remember that my ideas above are just a few that I was throwing around. Please, if anybody has any other ideas about this whole thing post it. Also, any feedback from team leaders? Have this been brought up before and shot down?
As per the question of whether I would be willing to put it together every week (i'm thinking every 2 weeks now) I would be. But only if I get a blessing from the team leaders.
nikhsub1, thank you for offering your bandwidth etc. to this proposal. I'm sure you will be taken up on the offer if & when it comes to frutition.
Slaught, we could have things for those who aren't power folders as well. After all, I'm not a power folder (412 pts :) ) Perhaps if you put a new rig online it could be listed... there are dozens of different things we could do to make each issue interesting.

Well I have signed up and can only hope that it all goes ahead. I would be very interested to see a Team 32 newsletter and would have to agree that it may well boost interest in folding. I hope it all comes together :D

Just all those regular kind of articles on the team site would be nice :)

Maybe for the lightweight guys to be included, you could have a listing of the top X production increases
I like the idea and will sign up for it when you get started.

NAS, what about the idea as a whole? Would you help me out with it if I were to take it upon myself to put together?

or instead of the top 25, 25 active users each week, go through the whole list, so nobody would feel left out.

i think getting the news out about it would be a chore, maybe we can get a sticky about it when it goes live. i will make sure it gets announced on the team page, that should help a bit.

Great idea! I'd definately be interested. It would be good to somehow get it out in the public. For *recruitment* purposes.
