I have a Gigabyte GA-8IHXP and an Asus P4T533-C with an messed up BIOS (BIOS didn't flash succesfully).

What Pentium IV would be the best to use? I have Samsung 40ns RAM so, that shouldn't be an issuse.

Some people think the 2.5 @ 400MHZ should overclock well.

Considering the max FSB is 150MHZ (or so). Is it better to get a chip with a higher multiplier (Like a 2.4 or 2.5) or is it worth getting a chip running at 533MHZ and live with the lower overclocking potential?

Thanks for all of the help.

Ideally, you'd want to run at 150 FSB if possible. If you have the cash, I'd buy the 2.66 which would be 3 gig at 150 FSB. The cheaper 2.53 at 150 FSB would give you 2.85 gig. If you absolutely have to hit 3+ gig and are on a budget, then 2.5 would get you there, but you'll sacrifice a little memory bandwidth.

Ideally, you want a C-1 P4 2.2 GHz. The nice thing is that they are fairly cheap.

You're virtually guaranteed to hit 2.93 GHz with an FSB of 133 MHz, and you'll probably top out at around 3.1-3.2 GHz, with an FSB of 140-145 MHz.

The trick is *finding* a C-1 P4 2.2 GHz. Retailers have started to receive them, but unless you can get someone to guarantee you a "SL6GR" (C-1), you will probably end up with a less-desirable "SL66S". Be persistent, and wait a couple of weeks if necessary.
