View Full Version : Sorry...another question..Whats the point of raising the voltage??
my 1600+, why even raise the voltage? Does it become more stable at higher speeds?
If I raise the voltage on my gf4(volt mod) and have the blower on it...would it be stable at higher clock speeds?
yes increaseing the voltage normaly allows stability at higher clocks :)
ahh ok thanks :)
Thats what I was thinking...but I had never read or heard if it did or not...
Perhaps a technical explanation will help understand the reasons for this;
Ohm's law says that the Potential difference (measured in volts) across a circuit is proportional to the current (I) flowing through the circuit at a constant resistance(R). So;
V=IR.
However the resistence is relative to temperature so this would only be true at a specified temperature. When you oc the chip it produces more heat and therefore the resistence increases leading to a drop in the current flowing through the processor. At a point there will not be enough current flow to maintain stability and the only way to increase or restore the amount of current needed, is to increase the Potential Difference across the circuit i.e. the voltage.
ahhhh, yes that makes sence...I didn't know that OC created more resistance...
I get it now, too. Thanks.
