I'm trying to network my main rig (D-Link PCI wireless) with my laptop that has a (wireless Linksys PCMCIA). So far, nothing has worked. The D-link is set to Peer-to-Peer mode and the laptop is set to ad-hock mode (which is supposed to be the same as peer-to-peer). Using a AP, I can link them without trouble, but now I'm back in school and no AP. They are also using the same channel, network name, and transfer rate.

As any of you been able to do this yet. Is there no set standard for a Peer-to-peer type network and would that make these two cards unable to comunicate with eachother??

Thanks

im not sure what your needs are, but you could try a VPN setup. you would need to be connected to something at your school though

If I just want to get the two computers to see each other, I'm pretty sure I don't need an AP. But I could be wrong.
