Over here (http://freespace.virgin.net/m.warner/RoadmapQ302.htm#nVidia NV28) it says that nVida has released the NV28 GPU which will feature AGP 8 and faster RAM.

QUESTION:

Will the new cards feature the same old memory just clocked a little bit faster or new (and hopefully better) memory?

Thank you!

I would think they are ganan be the same just more memory added like 256 mb alota cards are ganan have that soon.

same clock just agp x8

No. I don't think they're going to have 256mb RAM. They are just clocking it higher (same RAM though).

So if I have only AGP 4x, I am better off buying the older version and then overclock the memory. Hopefully when the AGP 8x version comes out the 4x will fall in price?

Yeah pretty much.
Or you could wait to see what NV30 offers. That will drop the prices even more anyway.
Also idon't think AGP 8X will make much of a difference to these cards - can anyone disprove me?

The GF4 MX will have faster clock speeds (gpu and ram) the GF4 Ti 4200 (and whatever other GF4 Ti cards they may change to AGP 8x) will not have faster GPU or RAM speeds!

Read This benchmark (http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/02q4/0210041/index.html) to confirm that and to see how the Ti4200 8x performs... If you dont feel like reading then let me tell you that the AGP 4x scores higher in 3dmark then the AGP 8x, although the 8x does manage to beat 4x in a few of the benches. Essentially the 8x version may do slightly better with things that take a lot of bandwidth like AA and AF but we are talking about a 1fps difference for the most part.

currently it has been shown in tests that there is no real benefit og AGP8x over AGP 4x as cards are not even reacing full potential of AGP 4x at present.

Also the new NV28 will not come with 256 ram, expect to see that on the next generation 9700 and possibly NV30 or itsfollowing revision

holy ***. 256MB Welll, not that I didn't expect that but still....

My computer has 512MB and when I am running Windows and several applications it only goes up to 200MB or so. (512MB I only need for games.) And when I think that my video card will have a half of that ..... :D

Would they really need 256MB even after the DX9 games hit big time?

with 256 mb of ram, i think that AGP8x is even more useless, and with 128 is almost the same, until games start using all that memory there`s no real use for AGP8x, i hear that doom III will have 80 mb of textures? rigth?

I think 8x will ONLY see significantly better FPS when games before very demanding and have VERY large textrues...but in reality todays cards and cpus are almost overkill and no game supports all the special features that cards have now...ONLY when they start supporting them,IMO, is when we will see 8x soar....
