I am getting the following peltier
Qmax = 220w, Vmax = 15.1v, Imax = 23.8A, Delta = 68c
at 12v it should draw 18.9 amps.
I am considering getting a dedicated psu, the antec true power 430 which can supply 20amps on the 12v line but is this cutting it too close to the limit?
I have the same PSU adn had the same questions. Everything I have learned is that I can run a 80w TEC from a molex to the Antec , but the 220w will smoke your PSU. I am still piecing together my Switftech Block and Swifttech GFX block both with TECs. I am planning to run the 80w TEC from the ANtec and the 226w from dedicated PSU.

were you running only the 220w on the antec when it blew or were you running a mobo from it as well?

hmm go find a better psu, I think there some links at dangerden.com for good peltier psu's.
that antec would never handle a pelt, the highest tec I would use on it on would be a 80watt or so, maybe 122watt.
Ive heard even if you use a sperate ATX power supply the 220 tec is still to much for it. Thats what I wa told anyway.

The best retail value I've seen on a pelt supply is here. (http://becooling.safeshopper.com/26/159.htm?948)
You can sometimes do better on ebay. I wouldn't trust a PC power supply to run a 220W pelt.
