i just build a comp for my friend..
using duron 1 gig and ecs (don't remember the exact code)

i check it through bios ..53 (i suppose it idle) maybe full load at 60. i try to check with MBM 5 ..but it give me strange number (17, -110, etc etc, and always change)

this computer mostly will be use for internet (surfing, d/l ) and some games (not very often)
but this will run 24/7..

so i just wonder..is this temp is in the range for duron..( i don't want to fry the cpu)

Durons seem to be about the same as xp's. I know oem comps run that hot if not hotter. Should be fine.

I built one for my daughter useing a 1200 duron and ECS K7S5A. Same thing happened with me on the temp. I used several programs till I found one that is consistant. Speed Fan. Very little else on the program works, but the temps tend to be consistant with the BOIS. It runs about 51c Idle 56c load. and that is with ASIII. All she does is kids games and little internet(she is 4) so those temps are fine.

Your temps are way off. I have a duron 1.1 @ 1266 and it runs at 35c full load. Durons are quite a bit cooler than their XP counterparts.

Any idea why they are so far off.Ive got ASIII and a Volcano 6 on this thing. My XP1800+ runs at 37c @idle with a Volcano 7. Both the bios temp and Speed Fan are right on with each other.

Even with the retail sink I had load temps of 42c. The temps are a bit too high, there is something thats not quite right.

i think it is because there is no fans blow in or out in my friend system..

i'm going to buy him one or two in weekend..
but is 50C is safe to run 24/7 ??

I did some experiments today and came up with this:

Duron 1200 OC'D 1320

CPU Temp in bios 52c
CPU Temp in SISandra 37c (makes sense)
CPU Temp in CPU Cool 37c "
CPU Temp in MBM5 36c

Power Supply temp in Bios n/a
Power Supply temp in SISandra 51c
Power Supply temp in CPU Cool 52c

Sounds to me like the ECS bios is wrong, Heck I did not know the P/S had a thermister in it.
