Is 24" too long. I would like to buy 1 and have read that 18" is the max you should use. What do you guys say. And what are the possible problems?
I am using 24" rounded cables in a full tower setup(only size that fits), and to date haven't experienced any data instability.
possible problem is about the signal strenght along the cable or something like that. articles on internet recommend not to get cables longer than 18inch as you mentioned, so if you doesnt need it any longer than go for the 18inch.
as stool mentions he got no problem with his, and i beleive that good cables made by big companies like Cooler Master, Vantec etc will hardly give you any trouble.

Thanks guys. I just ordered a 24" from SVC for 4.95. Dont know the name brand so I hope that is OK. I guess I'll find out in a couple days. The 18" just barely makes it to the top of my chieftec and the ribbon blocks alot of air coming into the case. Hope this helps

I have a round IDE cable 24" made my Cooler master and it rocks, it gives me slightly better performance that the flat 18" i used before.
