View Full Version : Is this Windows??
Hello, I am running Windows 2000 Pro and I am getting really annoyed with it. In the last month I have had to reinstall Windows 4 times because my computer freezes and then when I reboot I get an error that says that my file system is corrupted. The thing is that when I put my hard drive in my other computer to back up my data it works and reads perfectly fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be doing this? Thanks a lot.
sometimes when you overclock it causes your system to have stability issues. If you go to high with a cheapo hard drive it's prossible that you could corrupt the data on it. The other thing could be that it has cooling issues and might need to be cooled by a fan or two, or better yet by a HD cooler. In any case you should check to see that you don't have your system O/C'd too high. Stick with something your setup can handle. :)
I am not even overclocked.

Possibly your HD crapping out on you? A friend of mine had a similar problem due to bad ram...system could not boot, and eventually could not even reinstall windows, so thats also a posibility.
Check the RAM too, as a just in case. I had corrupted system files and profiles from a bad stick.

Or a loose connector?? I had low quality memory that could not run PC 133, it said PC-33.
I am wondering if you have one of those IBM GXP series hard drives... hmmm 60GXP? Those HD that IBM produced that have only a certain amount of operation hours and being known for defects.
try to check your system with norton windoc or others and defrag it. it seems that you have backed up the drive in ´10 minutes before the volcano explodes´. I think its NTFS internal error.
Perhaps it's the motherboard.....IDE connectors are on the board, so whatever happens to your board happens to your hard drives too. If it works in another computer just fine, try leaving it in the other system for a longer time and see if the same thing happens. Could be BIOS too?

Sound like bad ram or could be hd.
I installed to many drivers at the same time once and crashed the system (hehe i was in a rush to back up and running after a format) and I got this problem. Other then that only other time ive had something happen to me like this was when a stick of ram died on me. Get some other ram that you can run a memory test utility on
