as u can see, i am new here. so, if this is complete twaddle, then please just tell me.
I have read some of the threads and articles on ducts to the hsf to the outside case, and there are some pretty complex things to make them, now obviously u need to make a hole in the case, but it occured to me [can u guess what i was eating at the time] taht a pringles tube [u know the long ones] would make rather good ducts, they are cylindrical, easy to cut to length and pretty stiff. plus if u use the end with the metal on to go over the hsf then u can make a smaller hole there to increase the pressure so u can get air onto the fan quicker than you could with just a straight tube.
Just wondered if any1 had thought/tried this before, and if it worked or didn't, and if i am being a stupid hill billy?
thanx for coments and for reading this :D

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me(clean it out :D ) . I don't think it would be the strongest setup, but it would work. My favorite to use is Black PVC pipe. Make sure you experiment though, in some setups I have had better luck with a fan on the CPU and one on the outside of the case actually sucking air out and have had better results. I have not read anyone else trying this but it has worked for me.
Might want to consider a tube whereas the diameter of it expands as it keeps on going. If you go to the movies, there are sometimes special combos and they give you plastic cups where the bottom is pretty small then it expands.
i had pringles tubes used as directional ducts in my first ghetto mod:D

worked fine for me :D

As you can see, Star Wars Episode 1 provided me with a plastic beaker, just the right diameter for an 80mm fan duct.....:)
And welcome to Overclockers Bob. What part of the NW are you from?

i am from lancaster, and live on top of a hill, so if the river floods i'm pretty safe. cool about the directional pringle tube, looks good. so am i onto the right idea of starting the tube wider on the case and making it smaller over the hsf?
i have a confession to make, i fell into the trap thinking that any old fan would do to circulate air, so i got 3 £1.50 fans along with the rest of my puter from ebuyer, but as i have just built my puter i am running short on cash, the fan under my hd seems to do a reasonable job, put the intake and exhaust suck majorly!! any ideas for fans on a small budget, and does any1 know if these are available from scan [puter company in bolton] cos i need a new hsf as well, so are they good or bad?
thanx again.
