Aight, before I had an 1800+ on an Epox 8K7A+ with an AX-7 and my idle temps were like 30-32C and my full load would be from 37-40C, I decided to get a new mobo and CPU which are now an XP2200+ with an 8K3A+ and my idle temps in the BIOS are like 59C and I can't even get past the RAID screen cause it freezes, what is up with this crazy temp change? I was thinking that maybe the AX-7 doesn't fit the right way and it leaves a spot open which makes the temp rise, what do you guys think the problem is? I'm on my spare comp now cuz the other one doesn't even work.
Thanks,
NORE

I killed an XP1600+ on my 8K3A+ by not noticing the stepped portion was the wrong way (I know better than to do such a thing, but I was in the middle of the rush you get from setting up new stuff). Make sure you aren't making the same mistake, it would certainly explain what you are observing.

Dude the REV A t-breds read and RUN HOT on the 8K3A+ a BIOS update usally fixes this~

Hmmm... that makes sense, do you think that's it then?

I don't know enough to know if that is it or not.
If you're stock on FSB, cpu multiplier, and voltages then I would doubt that is the problem but it doesn hurt to fix it anyway. The 8k3a+ does read the on-die temps so they will be higher than you're used to seeing, maybe around 50C idle or a little lower.
I would suggest also rechecking your mount and try another AS3 application. At stock settings, the AX7 with any fan should be able to boot.

If that is the problem, you'll have to get into the BIOS and reset your shutdown temp in order for it to run long enough to do a BIOS update. Clearing CMOS ought to do the trick also.
T-breds run hotter, but maybe not that much hotter. Like everyone says, double check the mounting. Then, raise the shutdown temp, run at stock, and check for stability with prime95. WHat are your case/ambient temps?

Probably just the difference between reading the on-die temp with the 8k3a+ and the temp of the thermister under the socket on your old board.

Case temp is like 23C...... uhh so are you saying that's the right temp? I'm thinking of getting an 8K5A3+ cuz this sh*t is ****ing me off.

I was running an AX7 with a shorted Thermaltake Smart Fan I (about 52cfm) on a 8k3a+ with a 2100+. Default voltages on Vcore and Vdimm. My initial setup had the following readings:
---------------mobo temp------------cpu under load------delta temp
--------------------34--------------------------68--------------------34
lapped it---------34--------------------------62--------------------28
added side fan--32-------------------------56--------------------24
over cpu
All temps in degrees C.
Your temps are too high but I don't think they should cause the behavior you're seeing unless you have a HS mounting problem that causes the cpu to overheat when the machine comes on for a short period of time. Recheck your mount and apply new AS3 layer.
