Not an overclocking issue, just trying to get me new syatem to run at factory specs first!!
Heres the problem... Evry time I try to play a game that is graphic intensive the game will vanish after certain parts of the game. And they are the same spots every time. eg. after the first scene of Max payne when going to scene 2. People have suggested that the video driver needed to be updated, so I tried both of nvidias 30.82, and the new 40.71 detonator and still get the same results. I suspected the memory and tried lowering the multiplier to run it at 800, but still get the same results. Does anyone have any suggetstions??? Oh, and have tried this using Win Xp (both ntfs and fat32) I am now trying with windows 98. How about the drivers that came with the mobo? Hmmm
If anyone could help, or give any feedback I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Sounds like what my Voodoo used to do...When I would have on guardband clipping and Hidden surface removal it would cause things to disappear. Just turn all of that off, if it still doesnt work...then I dont really know what to tell you.

Thanks, but that was not it. Since I only have 256 megs of memory do you think lowering the aperature from 64 to something lower might help?
Run your aperture @ 128
Turn Fast writes off
Use the 30.82 drivers ( I don't trust the 40.xx)
I suspect its the aperture thats causing the problem..
Try setting your AGP aperture as high as you can. Don't worry- doing this does not dedicate all your RAM to the video card, it just makes it availible if needed.

Thanks guys, I tried setting aperatur to both 128 and 256 and still...
As for the Max Payne thats weird that I can play it with no prob on a 32mb TNT but not a 128. Its not just tha tgame though. Its all Hih res graphic games. I just tested with battle zone 2 and THAT vanished in the early stages as well.
HMMM...

Had same problem at friends house with onboard intel graphics. Game starts, loads, them BAM your back to windows. Its like- GEE THANKS!
Tried upgrading drivers, still nothing. The problem was never fixed, but an interesting note- this also happened with winXP. Never used to happen on win98.

Okay I had a friend bring over a memory testing utility to check the memory. It passed but it was indicating that I had ecc when it should be non-ecc. Thats funny because the memory was ecc, but the board was not recognizing as such. I called Iwill and they said it was strange since that was the same ecc ram they send with the board. i also went to Kingston's site to verify that what I got from googlegear was the ecc and it was. Is it possible that Kingston mis-labeled their product? Oh well.... Since the ecc did not cost me any extra, I am happy that everything runs fine on the non-ecc setting.
Note: As for Max payne not going to level two. It is a known problem with the software and my setup, and a patch is available.
Thanks for all of those who gave feedback.
Happy computing.
