It should be great, but will it cost more than ordering a 1600+?

I have an Agoia 9 0218 1800+ that does about 1800 Mhz.

Since that's basically the same stepping as the XP1600+ it should o/c like it. It depends if you get a good chip or not.

The 1600's are overclocking as well as, if not better, than the 18's.

i have an 1800+ AGOIYA and it seems to be a good over clocker. i dont have it unlocked so i am limited to what i can do with it, BUT i do have it running stable at 1.7GHz, rock stable that is. from what i understand...the 1600+ is the better over clocker out of the bunch BUT the way i look at it....you can take a 1600+ and over clock the hell out of it to get these high speeds, stressing the system out more than needed....or you can take a 1800+ and give it a "with in reason" over clock and get great speeds with out pushing the system too hard. lower temps, etc etc...and if needed you can clock the hell out of it too and get even more out of it. i could have purchased the 1600+ but i decided id rather start off with a 1.53 than a 1.4

sum chips are just bunk when it comes to over clocking, but maybe there is something else holding it back. RAM, MOBO, maybe the HDD doesnt like the over clock...maybe the nic....its not always the CPU that holds a system back.

Just because it has a higher default clock doesn't mean it will o/c further than a CPU with a lower default clock. Even if they have the same steppings, these rules don't apply. All you're gauranteed with a faster default speed is a faster default speed, that's all. I've seen 1600's with my same stepping as my 2000+ go higher than me. I have two 1600's on the way though. :)
