from a reply an email I sent...
"We can modify XP 2400+ and 2600+ so that your motherboard recognizes the processors as an XP 1700+ so that you can use them on older motherboards without the "Hi bit" support but our recommendation is to use these processors on more recent motherboards such as the Abit KD7 and AT7-Max2 as the above mentioned processors are L1 bridge unlocked from the factory. Also, these motherboards with the above processors can readily change multiplier settings from 5.5X to 18.0X from bios with full functionality without the need for physical modification to the processor.
