View Full Version : Google Folding toolbar!!!!!!!!
Well Muddocktor posted this at Icrontic I thought you should know it was available.
Link (http://www.icronticforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38347) That is the link to the thread. It is late but I got it installed but am having problems getting it to run. I was going to see how easy it is to change the team # and names. Well I am off to sleep. If you happen to figure it out let me know:D Fold on!!!!!

It uses just a standard config file. My path was....
C:\Program Files\GoogleDCC\GoogleFah\config.cfg
I did one WU for google just to see how it worked. But I hear the toolbar can't do Gromacs units yet.

does this mean you can have 2 clients running? f@h and the toolbar?

You can have up to 4 instances of the FAH client running on any pc.
You just have to give each one a different machine id # 1-4
how do i give each instance a different machine id?

Don't forget to download a fresh FAH console into each separate FAH folder.
You must have each instance of FAH in it's own folder. Each instance must have a separate machine id #. If not you will have all kind of headaches...
It is simple if you create one folder for each instance of FAH you want to run, then download a fresh FAH console into each folder, let the program ask you for all your info, then let it rip...
it is still telling me there is already a copy running, i even put the other copy (fresh d/l) on another hd, and changed the machine id in the .cfg file...?

Are you using the text or the graphics version ???
The text console runs much faster...
During the first run of the program it should prompt you for user name etc., etc,. and machine id #...

sweet! i think that i might be able to pull around 10 ghz with the toolbar, possibly more than that, but i'll set my first goal at 10. This could turn out to be a great thing for the project, but to all, make sure that you still get permission beforehand;)

OK finally got it working:D There is one snag to just changing the username and team number in the config. when you do this it gives you an error in the log because it stores the info in the registry. <<<Warning>>> Be careful when you mess with the registry<<</Warning>>> OK now when you bring the log into Notepad copy the google name it gave you, then open regedit. Search for the google name then change it to whatever name you want then change the team # to 32. now go out there and give your friends and family the google toolbar modified of course. Permision is still needed but it makes it easy for them to run. Good luck and fold on.

so after you change the username and team ID number to our oc team, does the toolbar have to be active in IE.. or do you have to have IE open in order to fold?

you can turn off IE and it stil folds. You can also uncheck the view google bar (right click a blank place on the bar). And it still Folds:)
I am not sure if it will start on its own if you reboot though. If you have that info please post.

this will be great then, since it folds without the toolbar even showing, it will be completely out of site! i will have to check the reboot thing and then maybe some experimenting with trying to use flags with it, has to be some way:)

There is an .exe it is called GoogleFah.exe. I tried to stick the -config flag on it but a window will not come up. I am sure it is a modified FAH to be hidden. I am also pretty sure flags that do not need input will work just fine. The problem will be getting the toolbar to start the right flagged short cut instead of the actual unflagged program.

well guys is there anything i could do to help? i will be delievering (have to he needs it) this latest system to a guy 20 miles away at his place of work around 5:30 that leaves alittle less than 2 hours.. think we could come up with how to set this up within that amount of time? :)
right now i have it set up as a scheduled task... which works OK i think, but this guy might change his password//login info, on this system (win2k), and i'm not sure if it would work after that?
