View Full Version : corsair, 3200 or 3500? I have a few hours till I buy, help me deciede...
I am getting a stick of corsair 256 XMS ram today.
just cant seem to deciede on which one.
I like the cas latency of the 3200.
but I like the speed of the 3500....
I am only getting 256 for now, cause I have only enough for that much right now, in a few weeks I will get a 512.
I would go for the 3200 for the better timings, and because I don't know of anyone running over 200 on fsb anyway or if there are any mobos that can.
my motherboard goes to 255.
I am wondering though...
how does a motherboard register 3500?
is it shown at 3200, but with the extra speed there when your overclock?
I am leaning towards the 3500 now, cause I am thinking I can run it at 3200 and get the same cas ratings if I want.
is that logical to assume?
I have never used ram this fast so I guess it's a learning experience...
Well, I'm betting you can't lose either way you go. Don't faster modules also run at slower speeds? You going with the Corsair? I got the cas2 pc2700 and I'm running it at 190 ddr :), but I can't get agressive timings. I say try the 3500 unless it's a ton more.

better double check i know i need to myself but i read 3500 sticks dont work with more than one in a mobo. i read this when corsair released the 512mb 3500 sticks.now i see the 256 sticks out so mabey its all in the past.im planning on doing same as u. i cant put that much into ram at the moment seeing i need other things .
well I just ended up getting the 3500.
I will play with this and if it's good and 256 proves to be too little, I'll just get the 512.
I have 512 mushkin CAS 2-2-2 pc 2100 ram, great stuff, but not really for overclocking, but I can get incredible timings out of it.
I can get cas 1.5 with my soyo, if up the dimm voltage.
but now, my overclocking needs outweigh my nice mushkin ram.
so long old friend.
to my spare pc your fate awaits.
sorry.
