Does your family let you install Folding@Home on their computers?
My brother took over our 1ghz athlon machine and won't let me install it. I messed up and taught him how to disable programs like it. Stupid stupid me.
On the other hand though, I am building my mom a 1.3ghz computer that should be done in 1 1/2 weeks.
At that time she will let me install F@H on it. She leaves it almost all the time so her email is on. Woohoo, lots of folding!!
I will also get her current 233mhz computer to turn into under my bed 24/7 folding room heater.
Beggining of October, I had 500mhz folding. By the end of October, a total of 3919mhz. (1800+1300+500+266+233+120)
If I could get it on my brothers computer, I could get near 5ghz, but I doubt he will ever let it run for long.

my mom let me install it on her comp but it is never on it seems so it takes weeks sometimes to do a unit, well after the deadlines.:(
my sister let me put it on her comp and my ex-gf currently runs it on her comp, she is very interested in folding and gladly leaves it on just for that!

you can put it in and hide it so he won't know the different.

rename the executable, hide it deep in windows\system and run as a scheduled task :D
is he likely to take you to court over it? :p

Precisely. Hide it!
I own 4 comps, but fold on 13.

I am in college, so here is my question, what is the best way to go about recruiting people for folding. I have no problem setting up there computer to do it, but what happens in the event that something breaks, even if it was not from folding. Any suggestions on how to tell them the risk but also convince them to fold is appreciated.

I don't really see any risk if its a computer that's not overclocked. Folding stresses the system, but not any more than gaming or any other intensive application. The only warning is that if there's instability, try to keep the computer cool... like pull off the side panel and blast the AC, or shut down folding until the room is cooler.
You can go for the full ninja sneak and run it as a service where they'll never even know, or you can sell folding to them... talk about what it does, how they can compete while helping do research, how cpu power the world over is being wasted.
I made a flyer and posted it around my college campus, and I tell all my freinds about it. I just install it as a service once permission has been given so they can run the text-console but not have it sit on the desktop where its easy to turn off.

Ok, thanks. I think I will try actually recruiting them instead of the stealth mode, but I guess I also need to become more familar with the text console version, since I am currently running the GUI version. I am also talking to a couple friends at another college who might be setting up the classroom computers to fold undetected. I'll post how that is going once I am sure that they have it set up.
The only other PC in this house is my parents' one: a 250MHz K6-2. If I can upgrade it to ~500Mhz which I plan to do, I will install folding in stealth mode.

I think I'm gonna hide it deep in my bros computer and hide the run inside a bat file.
And to recruit, just tell them what it does and how it works.
Just telling them about it will most likely get them very interested.
