I am pretty sicked and tired of reinstall OSs again and again because of my oc habit, i need something to save me 2 hours of work in the matter of min. I am thinking of getting PowerQuest PartitionMagic 7 or 8, but i am not sure if it is good at cloning the whole hdd to a new one. thanz.

Hi,

Yes, I've been a user of Drive Image for the last couple of years, and last month upgraded to DI2002. Have to say it's a great program. Only flakey though is the CDR/RW support, which not always works as reliably as it should.... however, backup hd to hd works perfectly. (and if you want you can always burn the CDRs later on with another utility.... as long as you have the hd free space for the image files)

One thing i love about ghost is the tool "ghost walker". After making the image of your harddrive you can browse the image file and copy files in or out of the image as you wish.

Excellent for getting at files without having to install the whole image.

I've heard that Drive image is great too. Anyone know if it has a Ghost walker like tool?

Yes, drive image 2002 has an image explorer that allows access to individual files. Don't know about the limitations though (whether it works with which file system type images..).

I happen to like Norton Ghost. It comes bundled with SystemWorks for dirt cheap on pricewatch.
