I've done mail/internet business with a lot of vendors and am particularly happy with newegg. Occasionally I have ordered from Directron.com and twice that I have dealt with them I have had problems. Their RMA process seems deliberately difficult to employ, and they do not respond to individual inquiries.

Today I checked my RMA status and it said "rejected." No reason given, and this before they even received the item I was returning. They did not send me email notification of this rejection. To this date, I don't know what they mean. Their policy specifically states that non-defective returns are accepted subject to a restocking fee.

This is twice I have ordered from them and twice that I have had RMA problems. I will stick to newegg and others in the future.

Have you called them? I never had to RMA with directron, and I'm definitely NOT sticking up for them, but why don't you give them a call to see if they even know about the rejection.

I ordered a case from them about 2 months ago for a friend. On the right side there was a small dent, but my friend decided to keep the case anyways. That was the closest I ever got to an almost RMA with directron.

I always try to call them in person. So far it has worked fine even with big time guys like Tower Records, Sears, and Sony to name a few. A Phone call goes a long way sometimes.

Hi, Kid Payne,

Directron has designed its "interface" with customers so as to make personal contact impossible. Thet don't even have an email customer service, but a bulletin board (like these forums) on which one posts one's concerns to be answered at a later time. Take a look at their website some time and you'll see that it must have been built by lawyers.

Well, here it is a week later and I still haven't gotten a substantive response from Directron. They do not answer the phone. They do not accept email. They do not answer posts in their help desk.
THEY ARE NOT LIKE MOST VENDORS. Be forewarned.

This is the final word from Directron:

Even though UPS shows a Directron receiving signature on 10/18, Directron claims it arrived 10/22 and that it will take a week to process. So I sent it back on 10/11 and I might have a credit (minus restocking fee) to apply to another power supply by Halloween, which will arrive by 11/10, a delay of a month in building a state of the art system.

There will be a better chipset out by then.

I'm impatient and Directron is slow. That's all there is to it. The best thing that can be said about them is they don't collect California sales tax like Newegg and googlegear.

And they don't rape you on the shipping like a lot of places will do, yet still have pretty good prices.

I've had to call them a few times and never had a problem. They must not like you :)

Sounds to me like they are more concerned with policy and lunch breaks than a common sense solution. Thanks for the heads up. I won't be buying from Directron.

Goat I'm not sure what you are doing wrong but first of all...they reply faster if you post on their forum..and make sure it is the right forum since they have a lot of sections,

I called and was connected to a live representative the last 2 times I called them......

the emails they sent me back was within 2-3 days so I am not complaining.

I got all the information for the RMA back already, sent it in, they recieved it yesterday and will post when my credit card is credited for the refund.

The RMA process with directron was faster than with Newegg. Newegg took 2 days to approve the RMA while Directron I got a response later that day.

Phone call between NE and D were the same..I called and got connected.

I just got my refund from directron. They took the 15% restocking fee but I expected that.

The total time it took them was about 3 days after they recieved it.

Here's the latest post from Directron's message board:

You were credited on 10/24/02 $49.99-15%restocking fee =$42.50 for your RMA 332431.
It may take 2-5 business days to post on your account depending on your credit card company.

Have a great day!

Joaquin

So add 5 business days to 10/24 and you have 10/31, so a total of 20 days to get a lousy credit for a returned power supply.
That's too slow for me. Call me old fashioned, but I've been waiting for the credit to order the other power supply so I could finish the rig I'm building, and the whole process is adding 5 weeks.

Wow you are unlucky Goat...

my total time was 3 days for USPS to deliver the package and 3 days to get the refund. So mine was 6 days.
