Well this all started this weekend when me and my freinds tried to OC my 1700+ with a homemade water cooling system. I have been air cooled and still am. We tryed the water cooling and got it to boot the first time. The temps were a good 30C in the bios. Then the second time we booted it up, it only read 1/2 of my 512MB ram in there. Then the next time, it read 1/2 of the 1/2. And the next time it wouldn't even boot. So I put my fan back on it and let it sit for a while. I booted it up and everything looked fine. Everything worked great until I saw my temps. They were 56C when I was idle. Before they were around 40-45C idle. I dunno what happened! Any ideas?!?!

well i am one of your friends and u could have just asked me but here it goes.

1 the reason why the temps while watercooled were so high is that the the block wasnt seated properly.

2 the reason why your temps are still high is that the reminence of that thermal pad on your heatsink wasnt properly removed with rubbing alcohol

3 we can fix all that this weekend probably if u would like its is really a minor thing and if u would like to overclock you would be best with getting watercooling and remember we did jump your vcore so that may have a good influence on the temp change.

Well you do need thermal paste and need to clean both the CPU and the heatsink from the thermalpad resedue. after that you have to apply a really thin layer of thermal paste on the CPU core, spread it evenly and mount the (clean) heatsink on the chip, also your friend mentioned u upping the vcore, go to the BIOS and set it to default
