I got a couple 1.6ghz socket478 willammates cheap off ebay. does the VID pin wrap work on these? If so, how high will it raise the voltage to?
Despite their patheticness, I figure I should be able to hit 2ghz with them.

I don't think so, those tricks were strictly Northy mods :) .. since you've got 2, wanna try on one? LOL! ... j/k

If they are socket 478, I ought to figure out the VID pin configuration (I'll look into it right now and get back with you). If they are socket 423, there still will be a way, but you'll have to research the Intel specs and documents yourself.

The rule of thumb for Intel processors is 10% to 15% voltage increase is generally acceptable if you have good cooling. So, a Willy should easily handle 1.9v or so. Probably as much as 2v if you have exceptional cooling.

If you have motherboards that allows you to fix the PCI bus, then 2 gig might be within grasp. If not, I'm guessing about 1.84 gig is about all you'll reach (115 FSB).

Ok, I see that both of those 1.6 Willies are socket 478, so that's good. I've looked up the VID pin chart and those CPUs will have a factory default Vcore of 1.75v. That means VID pins #4, #3, #1, and #0 are internally connected. The only wire wrapping method is to connect VID pin #2 to either VID3 or VID1. It's easier to do the pin hole connection using a small "U" shaped piece of copper wire. Connecting VID #2 with any of the other VID pins will give you 1.85v modified default.
