Experience with Plumber's Goop anyone?

I got a radiator and need to attatch some 3/8" barbs. Thinking about sweating it on with a torch but that might ruin the housing, so I'm thinking about using Plumber's Goop on it. Would that be strong enough for a 250 gph pump? Or should I just solder the thing on very carefully.

If by goop you mean plumbers putty, no way. If you can't thread the holes, definitely go with solder.

goop is good stuff for some things , I use the "marine" version , but definitly solder it if you can , if not , the plumbers epoxy that comes in a stick , and you knead it together is better than goop

plumber's good is great stuff... but not for something that important. granted it might work (strong enough that i had to saw it out from in between two pieces pf pvc to get them apart), its not worth the risk. if you needing to seal up some pvc type stuff though, its awesome, or glue barbs into plasticy stuff. metal to metal i dunno how that would work though.

Or should I just solder the thing on very carefully. solder is best you can even try electronic solder (LOW TEMP) from the shack just make sure both sides are very clean (SANDPAPER) and use a lot of plumbers flux and only use as much heat as needed too much is bad

I used epoxy putty to put 3/8" fittings on my rad. Keeps nice and tight. I think thats the stuff surlyjoe is talking about.

about Plumbers Goop. Don't limit it's use to liquid moving gear. Use it to hold components, buses, wires, hoses, fans in place. It just Rocks!!!
