Ive heard good things about US Robotics for 56k modems, and other ones to. Right now ive been waiting for Cable internet for hermm, seems like a few years but is more over 6 months. I need to find a good NON WINmodem (god they **** me off :mad: ) 56k modem. Mainly what i need to know, are all of the US Robotics modems that i would find on say.....Outpost.com or in my local Bestbuy, are they all not gonna be WINmodems? thank you.

(oh yes, if im totally wrong, steer me in the opposite direction of US Robotics :D)

USR = 3Com. So, if it's $50+ it's almost 100% not a Win Modem.

They're generally the best modems out there.

I have a USR 5610a , on installation {Win Me} picks it up as a pci controller. Definately not a winmodem. Hooks up at 53.333kb. Although it can be hard to install without installation disk. Im on cable now and not using it. It worked great costs 70-90 dollars?

Try HERE (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=18&manufactory=1296&DEPA=1&sortby=14&order=1), the second one down "not a winmodem".
I have one and love it. Reliable and actual real live plug-n-play ('bout time something was).
