I plan on getting the Gainward Geforce 3 ti200 64mb Pack Golden Sample very soon....it seemed like a very good price to me ($98).

However I plan on overclocking this bad boy REALLY hard to get the most possible out of it. My question is what type of cooling should I put on it?? I was thinking about a small CPU HS/fan. It already has Ramsinks and I have a fan blowing on the agp slot.

I plan on getting the NV30 when it comes out, or a few months after release depending on price....so it wouldn't make sense to get a g4.

--Plus I also wanna make a kicka$$ g3!!---

Thanks in advance for evryones advice!!!!!!!!:D

gainward's stock cooling wud do just fine. u kud apply artic silver adhesive on the ramsinks and under the gpu hsf.

I used to have ajust a plain PNY GeForce3..got it to run rock solid at Ti500 speeds with stock cooling.....case airflow helps :D

I have the Gainward Geforce 3 Ti200 Golden Sample and I have it OCed @ 215/550 with the normal cooling.

So everyone feels that a massive beefy HS/F will not allow any further o/c??

Cuz I talking really high...like as far as the slide bar will go if possible.:D

I had a PNY GeForce3 Ti200... it had a pretty good size HSF on it. Nothing too big, really.. about the size of a Cooljag 1U. I had it stable at 250/560 with some horrid ambient temps :p

It partially burnt out recently, I don't think it liked 175fsb. It still works, but only at 2x and relaxed ram timings.

It was an excellent excuse to pick up a Ti4200 though :D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the stock plain GF3 better than the Ti200? I'm not talking about OCing mind you :), just with stock speeds.

i believe the gf3 classic is a bit higher than the ti200

Ok ok.....we have established that people can get there stock g3 high....but what about If i really soup up cooling--like I said before with a CPU hs/f and such.....would I be able to go further???

BTW im also looking at VGA EVAGA GeForce 2 Ti 64mb card...vuz its only 63 bucks and spending $98 seems abit much to just turn around and buy another card 3 month from now.

--One more thing, I wanna put some Ramsinks on the card if I get it...any recommendations on what I should get??---

The maximum you can get with stock cooling is around 250/560, but I doubt you can go any higher even with a cooljag on top, without any Vmod. With Vmod and good cooling I would say around 260/580.

Imma a newbie so how would I go about maxing it out with vmod and such...cuz at $98 or $63 (g2 or g3...i cant decided which one to get) its not like I have to worry about ruining the card.

when i upgrade i always try to ATLEAST go for the product no 2 in market, like for instance right now geforce4 is no 2 and radeon is no 1, that way when a new product comes in and pushes radeon down one notch i can get rid of my product and go for the better one and i will get better value for my card

may sound stupid to you and others, but i think so by the time nv30 comes the value for your gf3 would be low when compared to a ti4200 (if i am not wrong they are available as low as 110$'s) so my suggestion would be to go for a ti4200 :)

The GF2 Ti is the fastest GF2 card.

by swifty i meant one of those 1kilo+ copper/aluminum heatsinks made by swiftech for cpus :) and the Ti is the fastest but the GTS-V would be a good ocing challenge ....

Sound good....have any other cooling recommendations??? Like other hs/f's or ramsinks.

If you have a CompUSA or other similar store near you, go look at their selection of generic heatsinks, and pick out one you like and chop it up into RAMsinks, and epoxy or drill mounting holes in another heatsink of your choice to slap onto it.

Just wondering what program you use to overclock you geforce 3's because when i use riva tuner and when iam overclocking when i increase my ram speeds up from 544 it goes to 558 which is too big of a jump.As it is stable at 544 but not 558. I tried pstrip but it only went to 533
