:) I am just playing around with my new unlocked AMD xp 1800.
it's base speed is 1.53 ghz.

I now have it running at 1.69 ghz, with a FSB of 356 (178x2) with a voltage of 1.85, thats as high as it goes.
at 179 it just craps out and stops.
doesn't matter what multiplier I set.
179 by even 5 craps out.

would I get a higher FSB by having more voltage?
(my soyo Kt-400 doesn't do anything more then 1.85)

I been having alot of fun playing with this, and this seems to be the most stable setting I have.
I can get more speed by lowering the FSB, but for some reason it does better at 1690 with a high FSB then 1800 with a high multiplier.

I have a stick of Corsair XMS 3500 to use, 256 meg.
just got it today, it's really good stuff.
just wish I could get a higher FSB...

anyways, anyone got any tips.
the only thing I can think of is, I need more voltage to increase the stability at 179 and higher.

:eh?:

I need to know how people post pictures of WCPUID.

I been trying to and it's 52k everysingle time I take a screen shot of it, and then I try to add it to my post and the damnthing says "file too large"
it's insane it's not even 1 k too large, but whatever...
I can't seem to get it any lower then 52k.

im gonna taje a guess but id say the prob at 179 and over is the mobo. the chip and the ram should be fine at 179.

check into the soyo boards and see if anyone has gotten higher.

You need to crop your picture and lessen the image quality. This will greatly reduce your image file size.
Your CPU O/C is not too bad, although with your parts you should be able to do wayyy more. Your ram should be able to hit 200fsb with no problem. Being that you're on air, I would decrease your Vcore. Will it run at 1.6 with 1.75 Vcore? Try and get the lowest Vcore possbile, with the highest fsb... good luck! be sure to post back! :)

I give up...

i can't post it.
I get it to 24 k, then it's too big, and needs to be 300x300.
then I can't make it smaller, cause it makes the file BIGGER in K's.
I give up...

Kunaak have you tried that new ram yet or was your ceiling of 179 before you got the new ram? Also what temps are you getting at 179 fsb?

yes I am using the DDR 3500 right now, it's a corsair 256 and I gotta say it's realy great stuff so far.
and for them people that think XP won't run very well with less then 512, all I can say is, I had ICQ open, speedfan, 2 net webpages, freeram and a ton of other little overclocking monitoring programs and there wasn't a single slow down or anything.

when I was running the ram on air at 178 I was getting temps of 44c at max fan speeds.

I settled on 1.6 ghz at 9.5x166 at 1.8v and with the ram with a cas of 2-2-2-6-t1 at default voltages running at 166.
the fan is going at 3200 RPM's and keeps me at 40c at the moment. thats when playing games.

anyways, if this is an indication of how well a AMD 2700 or higher will run, then I am very impressed.
cause running at 1.6 ghz with a FSB of 333 seems to have made this computer like 20% faster, and this is the "modest overclock".

I just wish I could figure out how to actually, post a picture here, cause if it's not one thing, it's another...

plus, 179 does seem to be the limit on voltage.
I tried lowering it to 1.825v and see if it still worked.
it didn't.
it just stalled forever on the "welcome" screen of XP.
resetting didn't help.
so 1.85v seems to be the problem now...
