Ok, while I was looking into the Google Compute issue I noticed something that makes me wonder if this could help some people climb faster. *evil grin* I also thought about what could be done on other people's computers...*snicker* Sorry, I'm an evil Thespian that thinks Sponge Bob is like the coolest so I get wierd ideas.

Anyway, what about changing the priority on the core? Like change it to high or something. It'd be less likely to kick the core out of the processor then and on almost completely dedicated boxen this might give you a boost. Just a thought though. Anyone tried this yet?

from what i know, all of the "other stuff" going on on your computer HAS to happen at some point so changing the priority of the core wouldnt really speed anything up i dont think. explorer has to get its cycles and it would be like turning winamp off if you gave fah a higher priority.

Oh, I understand that, but a process with a higher priority will have first dibs on the proc than those with a less priority. I'm not saying just bump it up to normal, but actually up it to the one right below real time. Just a thought thought.

On a box dedicated to folding it couldn't hurt, though I don't think it would make alot of difference because the core would almost never get kicked out anyway.

But it would make it REAL annoying to try and run another prog that used any kind of resources on that box?

Might be fun to experiment, but IMHTHEORY I would guess that the gains probably would not be great enough to justify the headaches.

Just build a rig for nothing but folding, then you don't need to worry:D

PS And if anyone can front me the money to do that I'd be ever so grateful:eek: j/k

I posted a thought like this along time ago. I know if you set it to high your system might become unstable. I don't think it will help.
