i reformatted my hard drive and created new partitions , a 3 gig one for win xp and a 35 gig one for the other stuff, the 3 gig one i formatted when we booted with the win xp and its NTFS, but the other drive doesnt show up, so i went into dos wit bootdisk and it shows it in fdisk as extended dos partition but i cant do anything with it in dos
help!

Hi grindee, Welcome to the forums. I'm not sure, but it looks like when you created the partitions you didn't assign letters to the others partitions, you must assign logical partitions and format them after finishing with the fdisk. I hope this helps you. maybe someone else have another idea

It dosen't show up in XP? That's strange.... Since it can't see it, you'll need a boot disk with FORMAT.COM on it to do this. Basically, get into real DOS, and type in FORMAT X: (where X: is ovbiously the 35GB drive letter). That should do it.

EDIT: Didn't even think about that... But the XP installer does that for you (or did at least for me. still got a 5GB unformatted partition waiting for Linux on my drive :))
