View Full Version : Milling bits
Anybody know where I can find milling bits for my drill press? I have looked high and low in my area. Even an industrial tool supply company near me doesn't sell them. I just want something that drills a flat 1/2" hole in copper.

you have a chunk to learn before you try to mill stuff with a drill press, go to ebay, and search 'end mills'

a very good place to buy inexpensive end mills is www.harborfreight.com
And yes, milling with a drill press is a challenge, but not impossible. You should buy a nice cross slide vise if you really plan on milling with your drill press. And ALWAYS wear safety glasses, 'cuz I guarantee you'll get something thrown at you the first couple of times you mill with a drill press. (From experience :))

Try milling 3mm channels in copper - awkward in the extreme. I find the best thing to do is do all the donkey work with a drill, then finish it with an end mill.
