I don't want to be bossy about this, but as several of our members are violating one of the forum rules, I post a link to the sign guidelines (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58341).

Please help us same bandwidth and make this place a better place for all. Use size=1 tags on each of your lines (even blank ones) and use two or three columns to list your rig specs......

Thelemac don't drop here very often, so your sign might be spared for a while, but as soon as you post in one of the high traffic ones (like cooling or AMD mobos) you might get Thelemac on you, and believe he is not a chicken anymore :D.

How else could we save bandwidth?

Does anyone ever use those "Show Printable Version" links, or the "Rate This Thread" thingy? The may be just a few kilobytes, but if few people use them, it'd probably be best to just dump them.

Same goes for the "Last Thread... Next Thread" thingy. Anyone use that?

also, DO NOT post those ultra-high resolution pics (you know, those 800x600+), and if you can, try to host the pic somewhere else (like your own server, webspace from you isp, etc.) instead of hosting everything in the forum server!

oh, one more little thing, i've noticed more and more often lately that people are including url link from other site. as the forum rule stated, ONLY senior member COULD include link in their sig to their personal site! of course, link back to oc.com/forum home page/oc.com's any distributing team (seti/folding/3d team) site is allowed!

Is it still the same 10 limit (0.75 = size 1, 1 = size 2, 1.5 = size 3) for sigs? If so, I should be in compliance. I'll check after this is posted ;)

BTW: Posting those ultra-huge 800x600+ pictures wouldn't make a diffrence on the bandwith AFAIK. The forum itself only allows 300x300 pics, and so anything larger will use the bandwith of somebody else, not us. A favorite image uploader of mine: TheForumIsDown (http://www.theforumisdown.com/upload/upload.php)

EDIT: Looks like that darn overflowing line is putting me over by 0.25 lines. Time to shrink it down! (...and Thelemac hasn't even gotten on me for it! I think the chicken man is slacking!!)

well, here's the simple guideline (if my "own harddrive" serve me right):

it's base on a point system. you can have total of 10 point.

points are base on the font size of each line.

the line that's [size=2] is 1 point and serve as a baseline.

[size=1] is 0.75 point

[size=2] is 1 point

[size=3] is 1.5 point

if there's a icon tag, like :D , w/in that line, that line will automatically treat as [size=2] and will have 1 point for that line.

at the end, add up each of the line's point together, and it HAVE TO BE no more than 10 point.

Works now. I can get there with Mictlan's orgional link (first post above) but I could not use that link the other day.

I tried rogerdugans link and it works too, for me.
