I am sure this has been posted a few times before but I missed em all.
What are some of your best gaming moments?(Multiplayer shenanigans dont count...thats like talking about the fish that got away!
I have a few....Omaha Beach on MOHAA was a instant classic. My friends and I replayed that one a few time:D
Finishing Homeworld was a satisfying experience, what a great game and wonderful story.
I have played quit a few games but right now no other ones stick out...well of course the opening to Half Life. that was my real first taste of the FPS genre.
What are your great gaming moments!
:)
Easy, finally beating Super Mario Brothers on 8-bit Nintendo. I was really young and I remember getting so worked up when I couldn't do it. It was such a great feeling.
Half-Life is up there too I guess:cool:

No doubt HalfLife will be the most mentioned in this thread, it has so many great "moments" because it was the first of a new kind so to speak. I mean there were so many great set pieces, like the huge dam, or the assualt that takes place once you get up the cliff bit, those were great imo.
Also homeworld is a great game backed by amazing moments, finding out you were banished from your original homeworld etc. although I never actualy completed it, so i gotta do that soon to see what happens :D
Fallout2 had some pretty cool moments, like when you try to sleep with some chick, and you end up with your entire inventory spread over the floor :)

half life is the greatest fps ever made.....no doubt about it...so many GREAT levels and moments...i play that game 3 times before being semi-satisfied....and the sounds and thinking games were excellent....every time those little crab thingies jump at me i almost ****ed my pants lol...and these were with crappy 5$ speakers too
Ending of Mafia .. woah !!! and overall experience and feeling of playing MAFIA was just awesome
also i enjoyed a lot playing Warcraft III
i was so much involved with NOLF 2 .. and than suddenly err the game ended it was too darn short for me especially when i picked it up right after playing a nice long game as MAFIA
Some of my favorite moments were in HS when I completed various early text adventures such as Zork!
Beating Impossible Mission on my C-64 the first time!
Who can forget Myst!
Halflife of course!
Those are just a very few over the years. :) Yeah, I'm old. But I can still take a few of you whippersnappers in UT/UT2003!

Everytime I finished a DKC game. My best record, finished the whole DKC (first one) with losing only 2/3 lives! :D
Everytime I blow up some people with my grenades in BF1942 is a great moment! ;)
Playing Dark Forces 1 that game was just asome!
Dark forces 2
Half life
killing someone in CS (especially a sniper who is sitting at A long in de_dust2) with a knife is fun :D

beating bubble booble with my sister on NES
and yeah a few really cool moments with cs and older versions of DOD
getting some of the best times in nfs5. this is one game that ive played the most
and BF 1942!
but of all games , subspace is still the coolest.
nfs 5 rocks i am kind of slightly disappointed with high stakes 2
Omaha beach in MOHAA was awesome
anyone remembers Dune 2 ??? i don't remember any other game taking my time as that game did sheeeeesh i was totally hooked to it and that game started me off in RTS

Omaha Beach is truly awesome to play even after a dozen times.
I remember loading Total Annihilation for the first time. It blew me away! I stayed up many a nights till 5 or 6 in the morning playing that RTS.

Ahh subspace/Continuem is an awsome game i always return too. I love flying in a massive 5+ ship dogfight and killing everyone.. or fast hit and runs.
Though the 1 on 1 fights with reds are great.. lots of dodging and close calls
In BF1942.. definatly when some plane maktes the mistake of comming straight at me when I'm on the AA guns.
Running ppl down is fun also :)
Lt.Max yeah sorry i meant Hot Pursuit 2, the best car racing game i have played and loved is Porche Unleashed and Colin Mcrae Ralling 2.0 they simply rock!!!
after playing Porche Unleashed i was hoping that Hot Pur**** 2 would be realistic and it turned out to be arcade which was slight turn down and disppointment for me but still the game is good although there is a list of things about it i dont like, but nothing like a good arcade race :D
One time I was at this Lan, and this stupid guy brought his girlfriend.
So she and I snuck off and HOOKED UP!!!
That was one of my BEST gaming moments.

all time greatest was when i completed one lap on that really small course in GT1 in 26.5 seconds. that recored still stands :)
also, the first time i played wolfenstein 3D. it was amazing.
my first time playing zelda on NES. i have beat the game well over 100 times now. i'm currently on the 7 level :D
then there's the best RPG ever made. Dragon Warrior. all four in the series owned RPG's for the following years only to be dethroned by Final Fantasy III.

greatest gaming moments, hmm soo many hours wasted, how many really got me lost...
I think as far as gaming and atmosphere, Marathon did it for me, i was 11ish and it was my first FPS the atmosphere just scared me to death i couldt even sit down and play through the first level the first few days i had it... that was the greatest ive ever had with a game... cant think of many games that scared me enough to put it down hehe...
there were some in halflife that were cool, i cant think of any that were that great off hand so i guess that shows how memorable they were, but it was a fun game, though repetative towards the end.
Baldurs Gate 2 slaying my first dragon and my first experience with real D&D rules in a computer game
thers many more with many more games but those would be my most memorable i would have to say
snyper1982

i cant believe tha no one mentrioned Psycho Mantis from metal gear solid, that was one of the coolest things in ANY game EVER. or the dog jumping through the window, that was some scary stuff man. then there was Hitman, favorite game of all time. or aries in final fantasy 7. just to name a few. lol

What about deus ex, the gold box SSI RPGS(Older gamers know what I'm talking about), Half-life was great. I have way too many games. The older ones are great. Honestly how many poeple here ever played the original PoolRad? Ultima anyone? Zork was great... I have a text base game kicking around someplace that I never beat... damn thing is impossible... I've played games for so long I only buy them when they have some new thing that is really cool. Wolf3d was a great one... umm ... Xcom... all of them... ahhh work calls... maybe I'll add to the list later.
hmmm my greatest moments would be back in my diablo II exp. days finding uniques (Arkaine's Valour <== i think thats what its called) and Mephisto hunting (Hell mode). oh and some CS action but of course. :D

The last part of the last level on Halo, co-op mode. If you have beat it, you know the part where you drive the car to beat the clock, well and beating the rest of halo on legendary for that matter.. That, and beating mario 1 and 3 on NES. Umm what else, even though u said no multiplayers AC had a lot of "moments".
edit: I forgot Tony! Lots of memerable moments when beating friends high scores in all the THPS series :D
The first one that comes to mind, would be the ending cutscene for Duke Nukem 3D. Watching him kick the alien's eye for a field goal and then hearing him hook up with a chick.
Second, would be when you beat HALO on legendary. After all that time fighting and starting to become emotionaly attached to the game to the point that you hate the aliens, then you watch as they hug humans in the end. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
Third was the ending to mario 64.

Everytime I beat a Final Fantasy game all the way thru my throat gets stuffy and I almost cry....That's the only game that really gets me going after I beat it.

Great question!
***The first time I rotated (took off) in the old, original Su-27 Flanker and discovered that PC flying could feel just like the real thing.
***For reasons even I don't fully understand, I didn't get Grand Prix Legends until it had been on the shelf for almost a year. In that time I'd heard hundreds of reviewers and racers say just how realistic and difficult it was. Yet even after that I wasn't prepared for how brutal and unforgiving this game is.
***Watching the replay mode in NASCAR 4 with jaw-dropped wonder at the TV-quality graphics.
***Going up against a hundred Junkers, Messerchmidts and Focke-Wulf's in Battle of Britain.

talking of PC flying have you tried Falcon 4.0 ??? it was dropped by Microprose but the f4 community continued to mod and patch the game on its own, it is said to be one of the most authentic flight sim around

Shadow Warrior was absolutely a blast to play. "You want to wash Wang? ..or watch Wang wash Wang?" FF7 I think overall is my favorite game of all time though. I have never played anygame as much as I did that. I have 4 or 5 Knights of the Round Table. I was so psyched when I finally got the gold cocobo I pretty much stopped using the airship alltogether lol I wish I got paid for the hundreds of hours I spent on that game. I never got into mechwarrior 2 till late in the game.

Yeah, I've played F4 for years. I like what its become, but before the 1.08 patch the game was so buggy it qualified for a "Worst Gaming Moment".
Fair warning: If you haven't played F4 the learning curve looks like a cliff. This is a tough SOB to get down, and I've never seen a game with more keyboard commands. Don't even think about it without a serious HOTAS controller setup.

In FACT the USAF use a modded version to train thier pilots on!
oh gosh so there are F4 simmers around? :)
yeah learning curve is very steep, come to think of it, the game came with a FAT manual ( i believe 650+ pages)
flying any sim without HOTAS if you ask me is pointless, i have a Saitek X36F and i love it :)
last i heard about f4 was that became open source and f5 was being produced that i got cut from community due to studies and all, any updates or news regarding falcon4+ series guys ?? any links would be appretiated

My dad plays f4. I tried it but it was just too complicated, and I dont like flight sims enough to learn all the commands etc. I have enough trouble with ms fs2002

The source code for F4 was never released by Micropose, but some members of the enthusiast community cracked it and developed the add-ons you mentioned.
To their great credit, Microprose did not step in and shut this down. And it paid off for them. A group of the original crackers got together, built a plan for F5, found a publisher to back them, and made a deal with Microprose to license the source code and Falcon brand.
There hasn't been a release date set yet. A good place to keep up on what is going on are the forums of SimHQ.com
One upcoming sim that you might also be interested in is Lock On: Modern Air Combat. This is from the team that created Su-27 and Flanker 2. Its a US/Russian scenario, and the list of flyable aircraft includes the Mig 29, F-15C and at long last, the A-10. Check it out at lo-mac.com

Thanks :)
i used to play it on my P-III 733Mhz with 128mb SDRAM and Voodoo 5 5500, i havent tried it out for ages and i wonder how will it run on my present system :D
ooo since i have nothing to do today i guess i will install it and play around with it :)
F5 would be awesome, i have been nuts about F-16 series of aircraft for a long long time

Ditto. It was the first FPS that really allowed the fan base to develop it's own widely supported add-ons. That was the first games I downloaded maps for.
My favorites...
- Finishing Final Fantasy II
- Finishing Final Fantasy V (Japanese, it took 70 HOURS to complete WITH game genie codes)
- ANY game of Super Bomberman with 4 people (including one vengeful imature player to spread diseases)
- Finishing X-Com: UFO Defense (which was the first game to make me painfully nervous)
- Worms (playing any title, including the original, against capable players)
- Getting anywhere other than the last place you died in DRAGON'S LAIR
- The "secret" level in Toe Jam And Earl (and sneaking up on santa)
- Stealing all of the high scores away from my Grandpa in the SUMMER or WINTER Olympics on the Commodore 64 that HE owns. :)
- Playing all the way through Blaster Master in one sitting
- The very first time you're trying to escape the exploding reactor in DESCENT
- Beating Super Mario 3 for the first time
- Beating Super Mario WORLD for the first time
- Playing a one-hit-kill "Slappers Only" game in GoldenEye with immature opponents
- Playing Bomberman 64 against 5-year-olds that enjoy being dead
- My first mouse, as included with Mario Paint
Edit: Now that I look at this list, I think I've spent more than half of my life playing video games.

I would have cried when I beat it, but I wasted all my tears crying b/c I was so frustrated. It was no doubt a fun, but hard game.

john240sx, You might want to boot straight out to dos to run them. Windows doesn't like some of the memory tricks that programmers used to use on the older games.
