OK here´s the question: My pal has a PIV 1.4 GHz /w 128MB Rambus PC800 (2x64MB).

Now it´s about time to upgrade - question is:

Upgrade with 2x128 (~ 110 U$D)
or with 2x256 (~ 220 U$D)
???

Will 384 MB be enough until the time he has to buy a whole new computer (in about two years)? He is student so it´s important to know if the 110 buck$ more to go up to 640MB are really necessary?

He runs WinME and not XP/2000. The OS isn´t a big problem though (at least the problems with this OS are not the rams :D)!

EDIT: Ooops - I forgot to mention this: He uses his computer to play the latest games (FPS + RTS + Sports).

how many slots does he have

i thinkt hat 384 will do it for at least another year

if its set up like i think 4 slots then he can ditch the other 2 64 later if need be and buy ram when its cheaper or when he needs it.
