Need a few opinions about an orb for a friend's system. MSI k7t Pro turbo/raid, 1333 Mhz 266 CPU. Is the orb worth the money for it or is there a heatsink better suited for this application?

The orbs SUCK. Please do not get an orb. For that system, I reccomend a high end cooler, here are a few:
GlobalWin CAK38
GlobalWin FOP38
Swiftech MC462
GlobalWin FOP32
ALpha PEP66
You should probably get one of those, my personal favourite and prolly one of the best there is the CAK38.
You can get all of those at www.coolerchips.com for a decsent price. I also reccomend getting some Arctic SilverII thermal compound. Hope that helps!

Noooooooo NOT AN ORB!!!
That's a pretty darn fast processor for an ORB to cool.
I'd go with a high end cooler.
Tom's hardware claims the mc462a is the best on the market at the moment.

NO ORB!
get one of the new copper HSF's there the new hot ticket for air cooling or as the post above said the swiftech is also top notch. but if your doing some high end overclocking water cooling is the way to go.

my favorite hsf on the market now is the mellinium (sp?) glaciator... solid copper bad boy. heavy though (1.5 pounds i heard), and not yet amd approved.
