a ? bout barbs sizes

Ok stupid ? time. If I was to go to Home Depot and ask for a 1/2". Would I get one that the OD is 1/2" or would the ID be 1/2". I was always lead to belive if I ask for 1/2' that it would be 1/2" OD.

od would be 1/2 and ask for 1/4npt threads if they have them, thats 1/2inch wide threaded part

Thanks Masked. Thats what I thought but at another forum they said the MCW462-UHT had 1/2"ID barbs. However with the one I have it has 1/2"OD. Cause when I bought the tubing I went with 1/2"ID and 5/8"OD.

Barbs come in little packages with two sizes on the package. If you grab a piece of tubing from the tubing section(should be in the same area), you can see what size is the barb end is.

1/2 x 1/2
1/2 x 1/4
etc...

I wish they sold 1/2 x 1/4!!! They've got 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, and 5/8s at both Lowes and Home Depot.

I too wish the Home Depot here had 1/2" barbs with 1/4" NPT. Maybe in another town but not this one.

my HD sucks as well.


I couldn't find any 1/2 x 1/4" as well, including Lowe's, HD, 3 hardware stores, and a plumber's supply store.
