OK, i always thought that it was better to remove the thermal material that comes with the hsf and use an aftermarket compound. But i just read on a review of the Taisol cgk742092 that the pad (chomerics t725) is rated 0.03 (whatever that means) and doesn't require replacing. Should I leave it on or use my radioshack heatsink compound?
btw, here's the review I referred to:

ps- i know that as2 is the best, but i just don't have that kind of dough :)

use your radioshack goop, it is better. The pad may be better than other stuff, but the shack goop is actually pretty good so use it instead.

Yep William is rite ive been using radioshack thermal compound and i think i have had great succes with it, you should notice a nice drop in temps when your done.
goodluck
I know a lot of people who are strapped for cash but $8 for some AS2 is not a lot!

and that includes shipping.
You can sell little dabs for a buck each to your buddies and pay for it in no time!!!
Nothing worse than an AS2 pusher supporting his habit. :D
Hoot
don't bother using a tim on any heatsink other than the thermoengine which is actually pretty good. Radioshack is good and nice and cheap, but like Hoot said Artic Silver is great. Especially when you get it on just right :)
TIMs stink. Unless you have a retail Bird and want to maintain the warrantee, get some Artic Silver.
Your comment was out of line Hoot!
Sheesh Dad, lighten up, anyone who knows Hoot realizes he was joking. If you don't know him, look at the little laughing icon in his post which also indicates he's joking. If you're just joking too, maybe you should of added a smiley face too.

I think Dad was picking on Hoot for picking on him. :))
I was a teenager in the 60s and 70s with a limited budget. I was resourceful. I thought it was pretty funny. I'm sorry some of you didn't.
Hoot
theres nothing wrong with a bit of casual humour and I can't in any way see how what hoot said was offensive.

I didn't find Hoot's comment in anyway humorous...
..."PSSST! Hoot! Don't cut me off, I just need on more fix of AS2...."
