 Dang! C'mon guys! to the peltier shopping sites and our BIOSes! start OCing ;)!
That actually sucks, we gotta do something at least increase some performance, and get more people folding as we did when Rage3D was on our tailes, but we gotta do it much more quickly coz we ain't got the time! :bang head

there is no way to combat this.

they have 17,000 active processors. we have about 1600.

We paid no heed the ancient prophecies , like fools we clung to the old hatreds and folded as we had for generations ............. Until the day the stats rained fire and a new enemy came among us . We stand now on the brink of destruction for the age of Google has begun !

Anyone guess where that came from ;)
The tides of darkness have already swept over Rage 3d .

Call out the tshirt ninja'a. We need to infiltrate some Universities and Company's with the Team 32 F@H virus ;)

Really though. I might not approve of googles "Recruitment" methods, but these projects should get completed alot quicker with that much folding power on board.

headshots :)

looks like will hit 5 million before the rest of us will, just kinda depressing to think that [h] is putting up awesome numbers and then you see a google and they are putting up what 3 to 4 times that.

FOLD ON

It's nothing to get worked up about. All they are is a renamed Anonymous, IMHO. They arent' in the same class as a forum team. Forum teams will still be very important to Pandegroup as we are the ones that help debug and test new methods! Can you see Pandegroup depending on google to help them in optimizing the Gromacs core? Not gonna happen. Do you see google telling Pandegroup that their servers are giving trouble? Not gonna happen either.

Good points Mr Mud! I was also checking earlier this morning and it looks like no one from that team is turning in those good 192 projects:D

That a good thing. At the rate they produce they would empty the 117 server very quickly if it could even meet the demand of 17000 more processors hitting it.

Google = Default II. No more, no less. Disregard the number.

[H] is still the highest ranking TEAM, followed by OCAU, then us (but not for very long, if we can keep up what we've accomplished of late...;) ).

Google, as Muddoctor noted, is not a team per-se. Treat the number like Default II.

Since Google crashed onto the scene, I have always considered them as NOT A TEAM. they don't collaborate ( thanks Nihili ) they don't communicate, they don't really know the 'system'. As a proud Geek, they, in no way, represent Geeks.

Google = default II

I dont really consider google as a team since there doing these special ways using people's computer to fold without them knowing what they got themselves into.

Google has a downloadable search bar which many ppl like ( mainly newbies ) . After the bar is installed, some ppl ( not sure if it is random ) are invited to fold . the problem is that most newbies don't read the info well and still have very litle idea of what they are doing . The sneakier part is that it is almost impossible for the average user to then change the user name or team . Imagine how hard it would be for the newbies .

yes thanks, i´ve found for myself that on the google page, and yes as you said ypu cannot change the name or team, but they also say that if the demand for those features has great demand they will do it, and for me that is great!! because here where i work we have 21 pc´s in the main i have it installed folding, but it would be much more easy for me if it seems that i´m only installing the google toolbar in the next 20 :D it would be like 16-17 Ghz more for team 32!!

Cowboy X

Fold for 32 .............. if you are having problems setting up the clients there are guys here who can help you . I saw someone post a how to , in which he changed the team to 32 :) , I don't think he was able to change the user name however .

Kendan
11-08-02, 08:24 PM
Yes it is possible. yoiu have to change the config and change two settings in the registry.
OK finally got it working There is one snag to just changing the username and team number in the config. when you do this it gives you an error in the log because it stores the info in the registry. <<<Warning>>> Be careful when you mess with the registry<<</Warning>>> OK now when you bring the log into Notepad copy the google name it gave you, then open regedit. Search for the google name then change it to whatever name you want then change the team # to 32. now go out there and give your friends and family the google toolbar modified of course. Permision is still needed but it makes it easy for them to run. Good luck and fold on.

that is from this thread (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=130559&highlight=google)

Good luck and fold on.

Make sure you get permision first.

Cowboy X
11-08-02, 09:18 PM
Permission will only be neede if you distribute the modified toolbar . For his rigs or his workplace's he can do it .

Kendan
11-08-02, 09:33 PM
Actually permision is still needed to install it and run it. There is a guy from georgia that got into a lot of trouble for installing a screensaver distibuted computing project. I would hate to see anyone get into trouble.

Fold on!!!

Cowboy X
11-08-02, 09:49 PM
If you mean permission from his workplace to install it ............ I 100% agree . But I was more thinking about permissin from google . Just a slight misunderstanding .
