Stupid mobo question

okay i cant get to this comptuer phsyicaly.

i have a vnc connection so i can get on to it

is there anyway for me to tell what motherboard it has in it

the damn thing has onboard sound and i cant find a driver for it

If you can install programs on it remotely you may be able to get WCPUID to tell you what chipset it's using.
Beyond that DxDiag can only tell you the basics based on driver info.

Run SiSoft Sandra on it: it can often give you detailed info on what mobo is in it.

SiS 735 is the same chipset as used in boards like the ECS K7S5A.

AFAIK the 735 wasnt used in many boards, I think it is a fairly safe bet that the board is an ECS K7S5A.

There should be. But AFAIK the FCC numbers are printed on the chips, and I doubt they are encoded into the hardware and readable by the computer.

Try the ECS K7S5A sound driver, I assume most SiS735 boards whether K7S5A or not will use the same/a similar sound chip.

If the k7s5a drivers don't work, try the chaintech 7sid, PCchips m830L or m831lr, or the amptron 830LMR, 830LM, or 830XLM. I know a bunch of el-cheapo computer stores used the Amptron 830 series with its onboard lan and the AMR modem.

Aaaah! I knew there was a Chaintech one, but I didnt know that those other boards used the 735. I should have known that PCChips would have a cheapo board with that chipset :). I know they have 730 based boards.
