How do I get XP to show my actual connection speed?

Whenever I connect (on dial-up :()Xp either reports my speed as 56 or 28.8. I know it's not connecting at 56k though, so how do I get it to report my true connection speed?

im not to sure how i got somes to do that but they've got a 56k modem and when it connects it says "now connected @ 48.0kbps"

www.dslreports.com, i dunno of anything in win xp that will tell you the actual speed
