okay i bought this 50ft patch cable a while ago like over a year.

My setup: main rig with usb cable modem, NIC is connected to my hub. Im sharing my internet with the 2nd rig.

second rig has NIC connected to hub. all works well.

3rd rig on other end of 50ft patch cable cannot see other computers.. works when plug into the 15ft cable connected to 2nd rig to hub though...

now long long ago did i buy the wrong kind of cable?? If i did what wires do i need to move around to make it work....

Straight through and patch are the same thing. I think you got the right one if you are using a hub. Crossover cables are different, they are used to connect a switch to a switch or a computer to a computer. Since you are connecting a computer to a hub you have the right one.
