View Full Version : Variance between the Mb temp. and the CPU temp??

What should be the approximate ratio between the motherboard temp. and the CPU temp? Asus Probe is usually reading a difference of roughly 12-14C between the two. This average is with the side of the case removed. My current reading is 45C-32C(CPU,Mb.) Is this an expected norm? Could this difference indicate a problem with the mating of the heatsink to the CPU or anything else?? Thanks :)

That will vary depending upon the c/w rating of the heatsink, how well it is installed, the speed and the voltage that the CPU is running at. You should, if you do not already have, consider downloading radiate.exe. This program is a must for overclockers software toolboxes. With the new version, you can specify the motherboard, aka system, aka ambient temperature, the make and model of your heatsink, the cpu speed and core voltage, and it will tell you what your CPU temperature should theoretically be.
