View Full Version : Rdram in pairs?
Do you have to run Rdram in all motherboards in pairs? I was advising a friend to install a pair of Rdram sticks in his computer but the telephone tech from Dell told him he could install one stick. Am I wrong?

the new 32bit PC3200 or PC4200 does not need to work in pairs, ASUS p4t533 is the only mobo that supports it so far, dunno about dell. All other Rambus stuff only work in pairs.
He also has pc600 but I suppose the pc800 will work as pc600 is obsolete.
Old intel motherboards also use single channel rdram (one stick min).
I guess they are not quad pumped then? must be slow memory times.
Huh? RDRAM has faster mem timings than DDR-I. At least thats what i believe..
Do you know what intel chipsetsupports single channel rdram?
The single channel rdram chipset is the 820. It's not self termintaing serial so you need to use dummy c-rimms in the empty slots.
Here is a benchmark when it was new.
