I've alway heard people going on about how SCSI is pretty fast and I was thinking of buying this SCSI drive to run my OS off: Fujitsu 9.1GB 80 pin SCA 10,000 RPM SCSI Hard Drive. Just wondered if this drive is worth £36 quid I was going to fork out?

Major specification are:
Model : MAG3091LC 3.5 Inch
Interface : 80-pin SCA
Capacity : 9.1 GB
Average Seek Time Read: 5.2 ms typical
Average Seek Time Write: 5.8 ms typical
Rotationl Speed : 10025 RPM
Data Transfer Rates: 80MB/s (synchronous)
Buffer: 4MB

I've got one...makes a very nice OS drive. I don't know how much 36 quid is, but I paid $12.50US (shipping was more than the drive :[ ) for a refurbished one off of eBay. I wouldn't pay more than $40US for a new one (I have 6 other Seagates of the same type I gave $47 a piece for with the 80-68 pin adapter included).

U2W is still plenty fast enough and the seek times definately make a difference.

I'm using a 10K Seagate as a boot drive, and I can tell you it is the fastest-booting drive I've owned. Of course, it was quite a bit more expensive when I bought it.
